On December 19, 2014 League of Ukrainian Canadian Women held a charitable event ‘Angels – Guardians of Ukraine’.
Charitable fundraising for creation of rehab centre for wounded Ukrainian soldiers was the main purpose of gathering.
Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Advisor to the Minister of Interior of Ukraine Ms. Tetyana Chornovol, military MDs, heroes of Maidan Dr. Vsevolod Steblyuk and Dr. Ruslan Dobrovolskyy, acting Consul General of Ukraine in Toronto Liudmula Davydovych, Minister of Justice of Canada P.H. MakKeyn, Canadian parliamentarians and Government officials, heads of leading Ukrainian NGO’s in Canada as well as a great number of representatives of Ukrainian community in Canada took part in the event.
During the official part of the event Liudmyla Davydovych addressed the audience with a speech in which expressed appreciation of the Ukrainian Side to the Government of Canada and to the Ukrainian community in Canada for support of Ukraine during these difficult times.
Acting Consul General stressed that Ukraine nowadays is fighting not only for its own territorial integrity and state sovereignty, but for peace and security in Europe.
With their support to Ukraine, world's leading democracies, including Canada, now support the fundamental principles of international law as well as peace and security in Europe.
Ukrainian community in Canada raised and transferred to the representatives of Ukraine CAN 80,000 for launching of a rehabilitation centre for wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
